Ningの新プランリリースに関する最新情報

電子出版についで、日本一のNingマスターを自認している割には、エントリーが遅くなってしまったのだが、6月16日にNingは来月から始まる新しい料金体系および新プランへの移行についてのアップデートを告知した。

Plan Updates – Purchase Ning Plus or Ning Pro and get greater control over the design of your Ning Network.

* Make almost unlimited changes to the appearance of your network with up to 100,000 characters of CSS in the Advanced Appearance Box (current limit is 15,000) and up to 20,000 characters of JavaScript or HTML code in the Analytics Box (current limit is 2,000).
* Change the way members navigate your Ning Network. Remove or rename any tab except Manage, and add up to 50 top-level tabs (current limit is 14).

The Ning Pro Plan includes Premium Support. You’ll enjoy the following increased level of support:

* Responses to your questions within 24 hours, Monday through Friday
* Invitations to new release and upcoming feature calls
* Access to Ning Strategic Relationships and Community Management teams’ expertise through private events, webinars and forums

If you decide to purchase Ning Mini, we’ve made it easy to transition to the new product:

* If you currently have between 151 and 400 members, you will be able to choose Ning Mini. However, you won’t be able to approve additional members until your membership drops below 150. Your Member page will show the most recent 150 members. If you have more than 400 members, you won’t be able to purchase Ning Mini. You will need to reduce your Ning Network to 400 members before selecting Ning Mini.
* If you have customized your current network with CSS, JavaScript or the Language Editor, these changes will remain in place. Because the Advanced Appearance Box, Analytics Box and Language Editor aren’t available with Ning Mini, you won’t be able to make further edits. You will be able to erase the CSS or JavaScript, or revert to the default in the Language Editor, if you so choose.
* Similarly, if you currently have more than 3 text boxes or 1 RSS feed on your Main Page, these will remain in place. However, you won’t be able to make edits until you have reduced the number of Main Page text boxes to 3 or RSS feeds to 1.

特色としては
CSSで使える文字数が増える（15,000→100,000）
解析ボックスで使える数字も増える（2,000→20,000）
これまでは制限のあったタブの制限がほぼなくなったのと、トップレベル（最上位階層）に配置できるタブの数が増加（14→50）

＜Ning Pro＞
Ning Proにはこれまでのプレミアムサポートと同じカスタマーサポートがつく。これは平日ならば24時間以内の対応保証つきで、Ning側親密なやり取りができるようになる。

＜Ning　Mini＞
簡易版のNing Mini（月額$2.95/年間20ドル）についても詳細が明らかになった。どうやら現在運営しているネットワークの会員数が400名以下の場合はNing Miniの上限会員数（150名）を超えているもののそのままのステータスをキープできるらしい。（ただこの場合会員数が150名を下回るまで新規の会員を追加することはできない）
これと同様に現在CSSを使ってトップページのデザインを変更していたり、言語エディターを利用している場合はそのままの状態をキープできるもののそれらを修正することはできなくなる。（Ning Miniではこれらの機能をサポートしていないため）　*しかしこれは言語エディターにいたっては大きな問題である。なぜなら文言などが追加されたりすることは十分に考えられるもののそれらについて翻訳文を提供することができないということを示唆するからだ。（委細は不明）　また同じようにテキストボックスの数やRSSフィードの数も制限されるようになる。

Ningのカスタマイズでは柔軟性が高いテキストボックスが花形であり、今回の変更ではそのテキストボックスの利用上限数が増えること、そしてオープンソーシャルのコンセプトを理解する上でも重要だったNing IDの利用方法についての変更が大きく注目されている。ネットワーク運営者向けのサポートフォーラムではNing IDをこれまでのように共有するのではなく、別々に設定できる方法を求める声があり、これに対応する形でNingはルールを変更する。（プライバシーに関わる部分として参加を他人に知られたくないと考えられうるネットワークとして同性愛者のコミュニティや特定の宗教や特別な趣味に関するコミュニティなどが挙げられている）

7月20日にいよいよ始まる新プラン。LMDPではこの新プランを完全網羅したガイドブック「一からのNing」（仮称）を日英両語で出版予定である。（紙出版の際の版元にご興味のある方はぜひ当社までご連絡ください）
