Rome Kanda pursues his craft like a samurai prepared to die for his master—and his master is comedy. Originally from Japan’s Kansai region, Rome moved to the U.S. in 1999 and rapidly found his calling and an audience. He has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Saturday Night Live , done standup in New York and Boston, and starred in a commercial for the New York Mets as a sushi chef. Rome was a samurai on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide , hosts the “Majide” game on I Survived a Japanese Game Show , and works under the alias Kei Kato on the G4 broadcasts of Kinniku Banzuke . His film credits include major roles in Rollerball and Takeshi Kitano ’s Sonatine , and his most recent screen appearance was a non-speaking role in 2009’s The Informant!, a Matt Damon vehicle directed by Steven Soderbergh.
